Please call (No Text):

...and leave a message if nobody is available.  PLEASE describe what your machine is doing or is NOT doing!  Give full details on how it is acting up and the best number to reach you at.  We will service you the SAME DAY OR NEXT DAY, guaranteed!

NOTE: We LOVE email! (No Text)  It's much more efficient and we can research the issue.  (Plus Outlook lets us turn emails into CONTACTS so easily!)  We will respond quickly.

**BULLETIN:  We are getting a LOT of calls from people having problems brewing coffee!  The coffee is weak, the coffee is watery, the coffee is boring, the coffee used to be better etc. what happened?   YOU'RE NOT USING THE FRESHEST BEANS and /or THEY HAVE NO MOJO TO BEGIN WITH.   SMELL your ground coffee.  It should give off a pungent aroma that leaves no doubt.  The volatile aromatic substances in coffee that make it an amazing beverage are EXTREMELY perishable, fleeting, and impermanent!   Grind ONLY what you need for THAT cup - and then brew immediately!    Beans should NEVER sit in an open hopper for days on end!   Buying some raspberry-avocado flavored beans that are sitting in BINS?   (I don't THINK SO!)   If you buy fresh beans, you must use them within TWO WEEKS!   Also, start getting hip to ROASTING DATES!  Use beans within a few weeks of roasting!   TIP: Find coffeehouses that roast their own beans or get their beans from local roasters.

OTHER Greater L.A. companies that fix:   WEST SIDE: Newman's Vaccum & Appliance (Delonghi); VALLEY: L.A. Electric (SAECO, GAGGIA, PAVONI, BREVILLE); Aroma Cafe Culture (Lavazza); Also for Breville: call Breville in Torrance.

WHY we don't service:   A lot of the newer consumer home machines are cheaply fabricated with flimsy plastic parts and crimped-on hoses & prone to leaks and / or CANNOT be serviced without a great deal of tedious disassembly and / or parts are NOT AVAILABLE so repair is just not practical or even possible!  (Plastic group-heads?  WTF?)  Saeco models after 2006 had dramatic declines in quality after moving to Romania.   (To their credit, Saeco & Gaggia do put out some quality high end machines like the Baristo and Accademia, which are difficult to service, so we don't!) Breville is NOTORIOUS for putting out models with parts not available after only a year or two.  Nespresso and similar are sealed flimsy units prone to leaks and cannot be serviced.  Then there's the BUGATTI DIVA.  Oh well.

More reasons to buy a JURA and have us maintain it!  There is a reason this is the only superautomatic we service: these machines are intelligently designed, and are made to be repaired / serviced with speedy access to all components.   Plus we stock 95% of all parts required to repair your Jura!   JURA ROCKS, FOLKS!

DO I NEED TO DESCALE:  Generally - NO!   We are seeing a lot of people who are descaling their machines for the WRONG reasons - and causing damage!   Descaling is NOT a maintenance item - it does NOT need to be done periodically because YOU think it's a good idea.  Plus descaling is NOT a simple procedure - many things need to be considered - including what TYPE of descaler to use.    We will let you know if your machine needs descaling.

We kind of recommend:   The Rancilio Silvia.  The Rancilio Silvia is a basic and dependable home espresso machine with a number of commercial quality features that set it apart from other small machines - to include a real boiler, quality steam valve, standard sized brass grouphead with 3WV -allowing it to be backflushed as well.   This thing stands up!   HOWEVER:  The Silvia  is also an archaic, dated disc thermostat product with no temperature control & with a miserable excuse for an overpressure valve.   There are PID kits available for upgrade that you can install - WHY BOTHER?

ALERT!  2017: The Rancilio Silvia is no longer a top pick.   This machine is frankly, antiquated.

An excellent and worthy alternative to the Silvia is the Crossland CC1, which is a dual boiler machine with electronic thermostat built in - and far superior to the Silvia.  Pair this with a Rocky Rancilio, you have an excellent budget setup for serious coffeemaking.

ALERT!  The Silvia boiler is prone to corrosion from hard water scale which leads to premature element failure.  Repair of this is a time-consuming knuckle-busting repair job requiring removal/replacement of the entire boiler, as well as a wiring harness update, and we charge a LOT $$$ to do it so take care of your boiler - use bottled or RO water ONLY!     If you have the Pre-2006 boiler on the LEFT, and it goes bad, it is NOT practical to replace it; too many additional parts are required / too expensive.   **BULLETIN We are beginning to see defective V4 heating elements.  These elements leak internally and short out.  Rancilio has refused to acknowledge the issue.

If you can spend more, the next stop might be a more advanced small E-61 machine such as the Duetto, Pasquini Livia, Quickmill, ECM Giotto, Expobar Brewtus, Spaziale Vivaldi and numerous others, which come in manual and auto models.  Some are similar to commercial machines (other than vibration pump) with a full size group head as well as inlet and group electrovalves as well as control boxes and dual tank/ plumbed in selectable feature.   Be aware that a lot of these machines LOOK like they are lever/ piston machines, but they are NOT.   After these come dual boiler home machines such as the Izzo Duetto and finally at the very top: the Marzocco GS/3, a very fine home machine indeed.

SPAZIALE HOME MACHINES: Special advisory:   Uhhh..we're getting real iffy on LaSpaziale home espresso machines.  We thought the MiniVivaldi, Vivaldi II and Lucca were difficult enough to work on, but now we have the S1 Dream which convinces us that Spaziale is going the wrong way with these WAY overcomplicated completely nonstandard orphan machines.  We've got...36 menu options with suboptions to confuse from?  We don't THINK so!  All of them a total grinch to work on; maybe we can fix it, maybe we can't, maybe you will need to ship yours to Chris Coffee.  We do not recommend the Spaziale personal  machines.

PHILIPS SAECO / GAGGIA / DELONGHI / KRUPS / ET AL.   These machines when working properly do the job intended however they just do not stand up over time.  GAGGIA/ SAECO TITANIUM TYPE NEWER AUTOMATIC MACHINES - and similar reboots after a year or two, are subject to frequent multiple leaks, due to their inferior thin fragile hoses.  (We haven't had to replace a hose on any JURA yet!) They will not stand up to prolonged use.  We recommend L.A. Electric in Tarzana @818-774-9503.   BETTER recommendation: GET A JURA INSTEAD.

COMMERCIAL BREWERS:  We install them but we do NOT repair them.   Call Fetco-Curtis-Bunn for a repair tech.

HOME LEVER MACHINES (Pavoni, Zacconi, Elektra-Microcasa, Cremina etc)   We occasionally repair SOME of these weird useless machines which are mostly conversation pieces that are unstable in use, have a tendency to leak, corrode badly and are difficult to work on - so we don't!   These machines make tiny dollhouse cups for the Ken and Barbie set - your money is better off spent elsewhere.

FOR PAVONI, ELEKTRA lever machines, call L.A. ELECTRIC in Tarzana 818-774-9503

FOR ZACCONI (Baby Big, Espresso Baby, Riviera and other obscure): call Thomas E. Cara in San Fran @(415) 781-0383   No website.

ALSO: Cerini Coffee, in NYC  718-584-3449 for OLYMPIA MACHINES and other vintage.

MIELE: Call RIA APPLIANCE SERVICE, 818.855.9555.  They repair Miele countertop espresso machines and built-ins as well as others. EMAIL: service@tofix.net

COMMERCIAL LEVER MACHINES: We service commercial Astoria, Fiorenzato and Rancilio pull machines - among our more complicated jobs. After draining your boiler and unbolting your group/ piston assembly, we replace up to 9 conical, sleeve, spacer, group & boiler gaskets on each side.   Is this expensive to do?  You bet your ass.   Especially if it has to be done on a regular basis, which is usually the case.

---LAVAZZA: Aroma Cafe Culture@ 877-567-2233 (Van Nuys)    https://www.aromacafeculture.com/Lavazza-Machine-Repair_ep_58-1.html         **However they do repairs VERY slowly, 6-8 weeks - MORE reason to get a JURA.   Also try CERINI COFFEE in NYC phone # above.

FRANCIS FRANCIS:  A Quality machine, back in the day....we do not service any longer.  Call Sapori in Portland.  Quality Machine.  https://www.saporifineflavors.com/

BREVILLE:  You can call Breville in Torrance.  Our recommended service company in Los Angeles is L.A. ELECTRIC in Tarzana.

ASCASO DREAM:   We are sorry to say,  the Dream Machine is one of THE worst junker machines ever made, with a POS boiler / element guaranteed to burn out early no matter what.  The steaming wand is a runner-up POS as well and the switches blow also. Should be called the nightmare machine and under no circumstances should you repair it.

---NESPRESSO:    More unrepairable crap and why would you want to.   Call  @ 1-800-562-1465 https://www.nespresso.com/us/en/service-customer-care; they may do some kind of trade-ins.

-- DIGITAL THERMOSTAT /PID:  We do not generally service or diagnose add-on PID / electronic thermostat issues BUT we WILL be happy to look at the problem and see what we can do.  If not under warranty or it's something beyond our expertise our advice is to contact the mfg/ importer.

--VINTAGE COMMERCIAL MACHINES:  Dome & Hammered machines etc.  Deluxe Copper @818-768-6300

FRANKE / SCHAERER / WMF / EGRO  AUTOMATIC:  These are volume high end machines costing in excess of $10K and are usually installed in cafeterias, schools, hotels and similar large self-service scenarios.   Serrano Esp. (626) 285-9909 as well as DUKE SERVICE can be called for these. (You will be spending $$$ to repair these)

CONVENIENCE STORE TYPE  POWDER MACHINES:   Sorry, we won't go near these mixed-blended-drink abominations

I WANT AN ESPRESSO JUST MACHINE LIKE STARBUCKS - Sorry, those Mastrenas are custom fabricated by THERMOPLAN and if you got one at auction it was from a STARBUCKS franchise store (yes, they exist) and you will not be able to get it serviced nor will you be able to even operate it as it is passcode locked on boot.
