BUYING USED....

The purchasing of used espresso machines is a huge minefield like no other.  We recommend you DO NOT buy any used "as-is" commercial machine on your own unless you are EXTREMELY familiar with these machines and know how to quickly spot problems.   There are plenty of used machines for sale at all times and most of them are JUNK.  You may buy a $500 bargain Xeos 3-phase machine you cannot install to your 220V service, or a Unic Phoenix pod machine that needs an expensive conversion to standard portafilters, you may find yourself with a frozen machine that has been sitting for 9 years with a full boiler with pinhole corrosion (it's junk/scrap) or a machine that looks great but is filled top to bottom with limescale and corrosion (junk/scrap) you may buy a machine and surprise- the external pump that it uses is nowhere to be found.  Or parts you need for a vintage/ orphan machine are simply unavailable: it's scrap.  For Brasilia, BUY only the Portofino line/model or later.  For Cimbali, buy M29 or "later".   We're also seeing a lot of awfully cheap junko grinders folks, that won't last you a week! - Buy Mazzer or Rossi you'll be fine.   THE HORROR STORIES OF PEOPLE GETTING STUCK WITH USELESS ESPRESSO MACHINES THAT WERE PULLED OUT OF SOMEBODY'S GARAGE, SHED, ROTTING RV OR WERE BOUGHT UNSEEN, ARE ENDLESS.   Do NOT buy any used espresso machine or grinder from a restaurant supply store - it's either CRAP, or overpriced.  NEVER, NEVER, NEVER buy used machines or grinders off EBAY.  CALL US.   We advise you to select from the major lines of newer commercial machines no more than 10 years old, Minimum 1800-2400 watt, 4-8 liter boiler, Rotary Pump machine for which parts are available.
